William P. Shea, M.D.
Assistant Professor

Dr. Shea is Director of the ECT service, and he is an attending psychiatrist on our Adult Inpatient Psychiatry Service, of which he is Medical Director. He is a Distinguished Life Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, past President of the Hartford Psychiatric Society, and past Council member of the Connecticut Psychiatric Society. Prior to joining the full time Faculty of UCHC in April, 2001, he was in private practice in West Hartford and Hartford where he had been a preceptor for third year UConn medical students in their outpatient psychiatry rotation since 1995, and was an attending at St. Francis Hospital, Hartford, and consulting Psychiatrist at Hartford Hospital, and since March, 2000 was affiliated with the former Connecticut Health Partners Medical Group-now UConn Health Partners. In addition to general and geriatric outpatient and inpatient consulting and patient care, his experience includes nursing home consulting.
