Catherine F. Lewis, M.D.
Associate Professor
Director of Medical Student Education

Dr. Lewis is a forensic psychiatrist whose primary research focus is the mental health of women involved with the criminal justice system. An area of particular interest is women with antisocial personality disorder. Her current projects include a study of maternal filicide, a study of post traumatic stress disorder in incarcerated HIV positive women and a study of determinants of health service utilization in incarcerated women. Dr. Lewis directs medical student education in the Department of Psychiatry, provides clinical supervision to medical students and residents, and directs the law and psychiatry curriculum for the psychiatry residency. Dr. Lewis is a fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and a member of the American Academy of Psychiatry and the Law. She has provided expert witness testimony in federal and state courts and conducts forensic evaluations in both criminal and civil contexts.
