Lance O. Bauer, Ph.D. Professor Director of Postdoctoral Training Program in Alcohol ResearcDr. Bauer, Associate Scientific Director of the Alcohol Research Center, directs the Neural Dynamics Laboratory and the NIAAA/T32-supported Postdoctoral Training Program in Alcohol Research. He is the Principal Investigator for NIDA- and NIAAA-funded research projects that attempt to refine the prediction of relapse to substance dependence in adults and children via the measurement of biological risk factors. In addition, he directs a Connecticut Department of Public Health-funded study that examines the contribution of vulnerability genes to the effects of cigarette smoking on the brain.
In addition to these activities, Dr. Bauer serves on the scientific advisory boards for the Alcohol Research Center and the General Clinical Research Center. Dr. Bauer is a regular member of the NIH/CSR APDA study section and often serves as a grant review consultant for other CSR, NIDA, or NIAAA study sections. He is a member of the Research Society and Alcoholism, College on Problems of Drug Dependence, and the International Society for Research on Impulsivity.
